Multilingual Learner Services

Upper Lake Unified School District’s Multilingual Learner Services supports the academic success of English Learner (EL) students by overseeing English language proficiency assessments, reclassification, and ongoing progress monitoring. Our goal is to ensure every EL student reaches grade-level achievement and thrives in a multilingual world.

We are guided by three core beliefs:

  • Shared Responsibility: All educators play a vital role in the language development of English Learners by applying both integrated and designated English Language Development (ELD).

  • High Expectations with Support: English Learners can excel academically when provided with effective instruction and the right supports.

  • Strength in Diversity: The language and cultural backgrounds of our students are powerful assets that enrich learning and strengthen our community.

Multilingual Learner Services provides families, teachers, and school leaders with the tools, resources, and support needed to help English Learners progress toward reclassification and long-term academic success. Together, we ensure our students not only thrive within Upper Lake Unified School District but also flourish as members of a global, multilingual society.
